When the Estate vineyard was first planted, a black bear would appear annually, just in time for harvest. He would stand on his hind legs, and the pickers would comment that he appeared to be dancing. They affectionately named him Fred, after the noted dancer and movie actor Fred Astaire. When Torsten and Kicki Allander began making wine from the estate, they chose the name Foxtrot, recalling one of Fred Astaire’s signature dances.
